This wine was produced to honour the Gloria Pasta factory and to justify the colourful stories that are often recited over a glass of wine and a glorious meal.
With the belief that food and wine go hand in hand, the Patritti family decided in the late 1950's to diversify their business to include pasta making.
Machinery was imported from Italy in 1962 and a new building was constructed next to the existing winery.
In 1963 the Pasta Gloria business was born. The pasta was made under careful eye using the finest ingredients before being air dried ready for sale. Despite the pasta's quality the business struggled to compete with the mass produced pastas of the increasingly commercial world. As a result the business was wound down with the building being used to expand the growing wine business.
Like the pasta this wine was made the time honoured way, starting with hand harvesting from old vine vineyards. Following fermentation and maturation in new puncheons each barrel was hand selected for its unique quality and character to make up this blend.
Best enjoyed with friends and family while savouring your favourite pasta dish.
