Grape variety: Ecologically grown Shiraz
Region: Adelaide Plains, South Australia
Tasting Notes: Supple tannins, together with a generous fruity palate of cherries, plums, and black pepper make the 2008 Virginian Shiraz an exceptional wine. Aged in French and American oak barrels, the character of this wine gives you what Shiraz was meant to be.
Winemakers Notes: The Adelaide Plains 07/08 winter season was rather dry compared to previous years. The large fall of rain late December 2007 eased the stress on the vines as a dry summer was approaching. Hot temperatures before harvest allowed the berries to ripen producing a grape with deep red colour and exceptional fruit flavours.
Winemaker: Ken Carypidis
Food suggestions: Barbequed meats, lamb shanks, game rissoles, ratatouille and mature cheeses.
